JEDDAH, 27 March 2003 — The Friday sermon at the Grand Mosque in Makkah will be translated into sign language beginning this Friday, according to Saleh ibn Abdul Rahman Al-Hosain, head of the Presidency for the Two Holy Mosques Affairs. He said the presidency had already appointed a translator for the sermon. “A special area has been allocated for the hearing-impaired on the second floor of the mosque’s new annex to attend the sermon in sign language,” Al-Hosain said. He said the presidency decided to carry out the new program to enable people with hearing problems to follow the sermon.
