JEDDAH, 1 April 2003 — Six Filipinos surprised an audience when they announced their decision to embrace Islam at a function at the Saudi-German Hospital auditorium here recently by the Cooperative Dawa and Guidance Center in Alhamra.
The function was held to honor more than 250 new Muslims who have completed an intensive Islamic course conducted by the center. As a result of the center’s efforts, 424 expatriates embraced Islam this year.
“The announcement of reversion to Islam by six Filipinos was not included in the program,” Badr Al-Olayan, director of the center, told Arab News.
