Tanmiah Commercial Group (DITevents), a subsidiary of Dabbagh Holding Group, has announced the postponement of the IT trade show COMDEX Saudi Arabia, that was to have taken place April 6-9, 2003 in Jeddah. The e-business conference, which was to have been organized at the same time as COMDEX, also has been postponed.
In their announcement on the rescheduling of the trade show, DITevents said: “We take special care to organize differentiated and special events. But we have found that, in spite of marketing most of our exhibition space, it is for the benefit of exhibitors and participants as well as for our clients and partners in organizing this exhibition, that the exhibition is postponed.
“A new date will be decided in the next 4 weeks after careful study of all available options, including the current conditions of the region. We will announce the new date as soon as it is decided.”
Speaking to Arab News, several Jeddah businessmen supported the COMDEX postponement. However, they were extremely unhappy with the necessity of such a step, as all felt that this clearly showed the economic damage being done to the Kingdom as a result of the war in Iraq. None believed that the event could be held before September.
