JEDDAH, 3 April 2003 — The number of Umrah pilgrims from Indonesia and Malaysia is expected to drop by 50 percent because of the on-going war in Iraq, according to Al-Watan newspaper. According to Umrah companies in the Kingdom, many prospective pilgrims, especially Indonesians and Malaysians, have canceled their flight bookings after the war broke out. The companies contend that the drop in the number of pilgrims will result in a SR60 million loss to them, Al-Watan said.
