DAMMAM, 4 April 2003 — Car sales in the Eastern Province are down 40 percent because of the war in Iraq, Al-Madinah reported. Since the beginning of the war, many consumers have switched from buying new to buying used cars. Meanwhile, the prices of European cars are up due to an increase in the value of the euro. Many showrooms in the Kingdom are switching to European cars due to a marked drop in the sales of US-manufactured cars.
