RIYADH, 13 April 2003 — Filipinos in the Middle East who have applied to take the qualifying examination for the Philippine foreign service are advised to submit their completed applications to the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh not later than April 25.
An advisory issued by Ambassador Bahnarim Guinomla said the embassy will be the testing center for examinees from Asia and the Middle East.
The Foreign Service Officers qualifying exam is scheduled on May 18.
For those who are interested in joining the foreign service but who have not yet applied, a copy of the FSO exam announcement and application can be obtained from the embassy, the advisory said.
According to the embassy’s advisory, applicants must:
• be Filipino citizens.
• be less than 36 years on the date of the written examination. The maximum age limit, however, does not apply to those who have been employed in the Department of Foreign Affairs for at least two years prior to the date of the FSO written examinations and who meet the other qualifications required of candidates for he examination.
• present evidence (transcript of records and diploma; certificate of education) of having graduated from a four-year bachelor’s degree course or its equivalent in a college or university of recognized standing.
Only those who pass the qualifying exam with a rating of at least 80 percent will be allowed to take the written examination scheduled on July 25-27, which will be held in the Philippines.
