JEDDAH, 10 October 2003 — The Passports Department has arrested 427 illegal overstayers all over the city, especially in the animal market. According to a report in Al-Madinah newspaper, arrests focused on the Al-Rawabi, Al-Aziziyyah, Al-Nuzha, Al-Zahra and Al-Nayeem districts, the fruit market, and Al-Makarona and Tahliya Streets and downtown Jeddah. Those arrested were charged with violating the Kingdom’s residency and labor regulations, and will be deported.
