RIYADH, 9 April 2004 — Powerhouse Luzviminda team of Herby Trazo battled through a pair of their tough sets against the Mindanao’s Minsupala team at 41-32 at center court, while the Tanmiah Strokers managed by Rudy Domingo and Arnel Tapay chalked up at 40-30 the Racqueteers CA group at court 4 in the ongoing actions of the Association of Filipino Tennis Players (AFTP) Spring Cup at the Al Yamama Hotel Tennis Courts.
The DQ Hunks 3A of Bert Oliva and Sonny Marilla kept their record alive with an impressive 45-35 victory over the Power Brokers team in the Division 1 category. The Lucky Shots team of Robert Romero trounced rival Desert Scorpions at 41-33.
The improving Assassins group of Benny Dela Cruz clipped the wings of Solid Friends at 44-29 at court 2. Al Abdulkarim Trading-sponsored team Racqueteers A1 headed by Allan Abrilla and Lito Ladio beat the Vinnell Arabia 1 squad at 47-35. Volleygators team of Ting Banday and Jigs Garcia tied at 35 all against the Racqueteers B team.
In other actions, the DQ Hunks 3B of Gani Toria and Cesar Unabia eased past the Netbusters at 48-23 in court 5, Racqueteers CB of Romy Guevarra won 39-29 against the Falcons in court 4, Ranao Smashers headed by Mahmoud Sindab and Habib Batua rolled past at 39-31 the Racqueteers.
This event was organized by the Association of Filipino Tennis Players-Riyadh (AFTP) assisted by the participating teams as well and is being supported by Metro Star Express, Hastek Marketing, Top Tennis Shop, DADORS Sports Wear of Eduard Dizon, Barrio Fiesta Restaurant through Ver Benosa, and Regal Saloon through Ed, Joseph, Joven, Jay, Marvin and Izaz.
