RIYADH, 16 April 2004 — Vinnell Arabia 2 and KFSHRC Smashers went all the way through to spark some fires in the continuing games of the Association of Filipino Tennis Players (AFTP) Spring Cup at the Al Yamama Hotel Tennis Courts, Riyadh.
Headed by Mario Flores and Rolly Biag, the Vinnell Arabia 2 contingent dominated their play against rival Mindanao’s Minsupala team at 43-39 at court 1, while the KFSHRC Smashers of Cesar De Vera hard hit their opponents Racqueteers CB at 42-34 in Court 2.
In the same token, the Pathfinders team of Joey Salem and Jojo Minoza with the support of their team members capitalized on their court experiences with a 44-33 victory over the Ball Thunder in court 5. The Hammerhead group of Ramon Montales and Roland Dela Cruz tried to stop the formidable Power Brokers team at 45-40 at the center court. Another group from Mindanao, the Ranao Smashers mentored by Mahmoud Sindab and Habib Ali Batua scaled down the Falcons team at 45-26.
In another battle, the Luzviminda group headed by Herby Trazo and Fidel Ulan, caught the Pathfinders tennisters on their off-night at 45-29 while the Tanmiah Strokers showed their tremendous offensive tennis skills in their whole game to beat the SBAHC Volleyers at 42-36. This event is under the supervision of the Association of Filipino Tennis Players-Riyadh (AFTP) assisted by the team captains as well and is being supported by Metro Star Express, Hastek Marketing, Top Tennis Shop, DADORS Sports Wear of Eduard Dizon, Barrio Fiesta Restaurant through Ver Benosa, and Regal Saloon through Ed, Joseph, Joven, Jay, Marvin, Izaz and Ayman.
