DAMMAM, 16 April 2004 — In the Swistar-sponsored DCA League tournament’s knockout stage played here, Kanoo C.C. prevailed over Senddex.
Kanoo bundled out Senddex for a 78 in 18.3 overs. Kanoo bowlers Amer, Wahid and Bilal shared 6 wickets among them. Later Sikandar and Sheehab wiped off the tail.
In reply Kanoo were all out for 78 in 16.5 overs in a tie with Senddex. However the match was awarded to Kanoo who played less number of overs (16.5) against Senddex (18.3). Shabbir captured 3 wickets, Ibrahim, Safdar and Iqbal 2 each.
Unique C.C. Defeat Marhoon C.C. Marhoon’s opener Qaiser gave a fine start scoring 57. Later, Saqib helped in adding to the total by scoring 38. Marhoon made 161 runs in 20 overs. Saleem and Farooq captured 3 wickets each. In reply, Unique went off with at fine start by Patel (30). Later Kelvin and Khalil scoring 37 and 42 brought their team to victory in just 16 overs. Unique won the match by 5 wickets. Adnan took 4 wickets.
Nawrella C.C Win Over Bluestar: Bluestar piled up a total of 128 all-out. Ashraf and Khalid gave an opening partnership of 51 runs in 7 overs. But the other batsmen fell cheaply. Helmi took 4 wickets. In reply Nawrella comfortably reached their target scoring 134 in 17 overs. The openers Imran and Nishanta gave their team a solid start before Imran was run out for 59. The first wicket partnership was worth 78 runs. Faizal was the other main scorer who made an unbeaten 28. Nawrella won by 7 wickets.
Classic Friends Eliminate PC Cargo: Classic Friends started very badly and slipped to 34 for 6 in 10 overs. However Matin who scored 32 runs steadied the innings and took the score to a decent total of 94 in allotted 20 overs. Ajith took 3 wickets. PC Cargo lost first wicket to the first ball. Denzil and Ajith steadied the innings with 40 runs partnership. They needed 5 runs from the last over having 5 wickets in hand to win the match but they could manage to score just 2 runs losing 4 wickets in that over and lost the match by 2 runs. Anwar and Asif captured 3 wickets each.
