RIYADH, 16 April 2004 — It was a day of downfall and resurrection on the Good Friday edition of the ongoing Power Horse Dart Team Challenge organized by the Expat Darters of Saudi Arabia (EDSA).
In the first game, the fully charged line-up of Power Horse Energy Drink Darters was so awesome against the cold performance of Absal Central Aircon Dart Team. The Energy Drink Masters switched off their fan motors right from the start, needing only two legs to claim their victory.
The duel highlighted the gallant show of strength from Power Horse’s rookies against the prized imports of the Hot & Cold Blowers. The energy boosted team did not even require the missing leadership of their team captain and the unusual disappearance of the regular superb game from their arid hotshot Mario Guanzon. End score 14-7.
Last week’s featured team — defending champions Phoenix Bakahan at Manukan Dart Team of Lino Leonardo battered SkyFreight-STR Darters from start to finish, winning their game after only 2 legs.
Showing excellent classic throws which earned them last season’s championship, the Pinoy Food Masters slaughtered the Cargo Experts with beautiful outshots. Final score 15-6. First Quadrant-D’Artists Darters of Edwin Canales did the same thing with Jolina’s Fashion Collection Dart Team, ending their game with a similar 15-6 score. The Downliners’ fire power was too strong for the Stylists.
Previous season’s 1st Runner-up Alesayi Motors Darters gave Ner’s Original La Paz Batchoy Dart Team tough time. Maintaining their composure until the end, the turbo charged darters overcame the seesaw battle and finished the game with a 13-8 final score. Ace Darters, getting a sigh of relief with the timely arrival of EDSA’s Chairman Manny Barroga who finished his Singles game with only 15 darts, narrowly escaped with an 11-9 victory against the league leaders First Quadrant-Wakaray Darters. The game was toe-to-toe until Ace brought all aces from their sleeves to win against the Downliners.
In the second game, Absal Central Aircon Dart Team resurrected by demolishing league leaders First Quadrant-Wakaray Darters. The match was neck-to-neck in the start which featured a surprise win by EDSA’s President Romy Galvez, until the Hot & Cold Air Blowers were able to fix their thermostats and break away, ending their game fully charged with freon at 14-7, with their team captain Ricky Virgula wowing the crowd with a beautiful Double Bullseye outshot.
Power Horse Energy Drink Darters did not mind the heavy rain pour outside and continued to create havoc by beating Ner’s Original La Paz Batchoy Dart Team 12-9, who played like really observing the Lenten season.
SkyFreight-STR Darters weighed too heavy for Jolina’s Fashion Collection Dart Team. The Taytay, Rizal based Cargo Experts did a complete turn around from their earlier severe loss, showed no mercy against the Stylists, bombarded them with shots and ended their game with a lop sided 16-5 score. First Quadrant-D’Artists Darters needed only 2 legs to elegantly win against Ace Darters. Powerful pairing bonuses from the Downliners II clamped their opponents, disabling them from bringing out aces from their sleeves even with their high outshots. The game ended with an 11-10 final score. Alesayi Motors Darters again ignored the Abstinence rule by beating the defending champions Phoenix-Bakahan at Manukan at 12-9, only a point shy from being featured as the Team of the Week.
