RIYADH, 30 April 2004 — Three-time defending champion Stinger continued to have a ball, winning their fifth Team of the Week title during the 22nd session of the Sabado Nights Bowling 16th Conference at the Al Khozama Bowling Center here.
Stinger kept Xtra Pins company with the most number of team honors by beating T.J. Bowlers 3-1 on total pinfalls of 4,018 and 3,443.
Stinger stamped their class once again when veteran Ernee Noto completed a double for the team by clinching Bowler of the Week honors at a series of 813. No other team passed the 4,000-points plateau, with first round winner Insektos a distant second best output-getter at 3,837.
The Insektos were a 3-1 winner over Samsco which carded total pinfalls of 3,629. Ball Innovations whipped Xtra Pins 3-1 (3,729-3,484) and Snap Shots 3 rolled back XTRM Fusion 3-1 (3,654-3,277) in the other matches in the five-man team Saturday league event sponsored by Restaurant Korean Palace.
Insektos’s Ed Iranzo at 266 and Jun Balubayan of Samsco at 255 became new 250 club members. They were also the week’s five-bagger achievers. Art Palustre shot 778 in support of Noto’s splendid job at Stinger, while teammates Arcie Consolation, Rodel Huidem and Ricky Simbulan added 764, 760 and 670 in that order.
Past Bowler of the Week winner Iranzo shot the week’s high series of 819 to pace the Insektos, who also collected 762 from Romy Zafe, 730 from Pido Villarosa, 684 from Rudy Usudan and 451 from captain Romy Cruz.
Babes Nival led Ball Innovations with 726. Fred Zacarias tossed in 681, Roger Ortega 642, Rusty Harbert 640 and Leo Agote 602.
