JEDDAH, 30 April 2004 — New team Earnest Young notched their 2nd win against luckless Publicis Graphics in the 6th week matches of Division II Friday League organized by Jeddah Cricket League (JCL). In other matches, Saudia City beat Talha Optics by 29 runs, Hero Rangers won by 5 wickets against GCI, Saudia Majestique beat Saleheen and Nader Toor defeated IISJ by 51 runs.

Earnest Young Bundle Out Publicis Graphicis: Publicis Graphics managed 116 for 9 in 17 overs, with Zahoor scoring 33 runs and Feroz 10 and Extras 26 and in reply Earnest Young posted 119 for four wickets. Amer (5 for 15) bundled out Publicis Graphics with support from R.K. Raman, Sarwar and Murli all taking a wicket each. Earnest Young’s score was boosted by Ameen, who made a fine 51 not out. Sarwar scored 23 and Amer contributed 12 runs. Zaheer took 2 for 24, Hameed 1 for 16 and Ehthesham had 1 for 23. Earnest Young won this match by 6 wickets in 15.2 overs.

Saudia City Beat Talha Optics by 29 Runs: Naseem Khan was unlucky to be run out for 29 just when he looked like giving his team a good start. The top and middle order collapsed but captain Junaid played a fine knock of 60 runs for Saudia City to reach 142 for 7 in 16 overs.

Tareq took 2 wickets for 29, Affan 1 for 26, Mohsin 1 for 20. In reply, Talha Optics could manage only 113 with A Rahman 31, Adil 20 and Extras 16. Khalid , Naseem and Junaid took 2 wickets each, while Irfan took a wicket for Saudia City.

Hero Rangers Beat GCI by 5 Wickets: GCI in 18 overs scored 154 for 5 wickets, Irfan made an unbeaten 92 with 6 fours and 1 six, Faisal and Inayat made 10 runs each, while Bashir and Irfan of Hero Rangers took 2 wickets each for 34 and 23 runs respectively. Nadeem had 1 for 28. In reply, Hero Rangers made 155 for 5 wickets in 16.2 overs, Ifteqar & Kumar batted well for 29 runs each, Abid scored 26. Noor was not out 25 and Adil 25 led their team to victory. Faisal of GCI bowled 2 for 13 and Abdul Qadeer, Saleem Butt and Inayat took one wicket each.

Saudia Majestique Beat Salaheen: Zahid Hussain scored 22 runs and Yusuf played well for an undefeated 35, Iyas 23, Iqbal 14 not out and Mr. Extras 12, there were 4 run outs, waqar 1 for 31, nazim 1 for 3. Saleheen played first and made 125 for 7 in 18 over with 20 coming in extras, Zia made 38, Shakoor 17, Afzal 14 and Irfan 14 not out. Amjad and Iqbal of Saudia Majestique took 2 wickets for 17 and 13 runs, Shahid had 2 for 21 runs.

Nader Toor Crush IISJ by 51 Runs:Batting first Nader Toor scored 186 for 4 in 19 overs, Mumtaz 68, Nader 43 provided a good start and that was embellished by Sadiq (14 n.o.) and Naveed (18 n.o.), while for IISJ Joshi and Rupesh took 1 wicket each for 32 & 36. IISJ were then skittled for a paltry 135 for 9 in 20 overs. Fawaz 23, Amjad 37, Mamoon 19, Rupesh 12 and Extras 29 boosted the tally.
