RIYADH, 30 April 2004 — The Riyadh Al Kharj Military Hospital organized the "International Nurses Week Basketball Tournament 2004" with eight teams participating at the RKH skydome court.

The opening ceremony was attended by distinguished guests from the different hospitals. Assembly and parade of teams was followed by an invocation from Capt. Mohammad Al Zamil, while the welcome address was jointly rendered by Capt. Fahad Hejiri, MODA-MSD sports affairs director and Dr. Sabah Abu Zinadah, RKH director of nursing.

Brig. Gen. Dr. Mohammad Al Hossan, deputy program director of RKH Military Hospital, delivered the inspirational speech reiterating the commitment of the program. Oath of sportsmanship was delivered by Rocky Baustista, tournament Official. Tournament Commissioner Jess Vinluan declared the tournament open followed by the ceremonial tossing of the ball that was performed by Brig. Gen. Dr. Mohammad Al Hossan and Capt. Fahad Hejiri with the RKH Military Hospital team and MODA-MSD clinic team clashing in the opener.

Prince Sultan Cardiac Center (PSCC), managed by Ms. Aipeng Goh, claimed the best uniform team award. The team is coached Rey Ruiz and playing coach Julius Sespene. The tournament is divided into two groups. Participating teams are the Riyadh Military Hospital (RKH), MODA-MSD mentored by their coach Rudy Sapigao and Arnie Sajur, Prince Sultan Cardiac Center (PSCC) coached by Rey Ruiz and Julius Sespene, MODA-MSD Clinic with head coach Arnold Pajares, Security Forces Hospital Program (SFHP) headed by Wafa Al Thumaire and Ronald Segarra, Dr. Abdulrahman Al Mishari Hospital headed by Dr. Mohd Ali Lito Astillero and coached by Dario Meneses and Bebot Esplanada, Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Center headed by Tina Abarro and Lafayette Coliolio, King Abdulaziz Medical City (KAMC) headed by Sultan Al Ahmed and coach Andy Caedian, Dallah Hospital headed by Dr. Elhamy Samy Rizk and Saleh Al Honaim and Gasper Amain as coach.

MODA-MSD team took an early lead with a 4-0 blast against RKH, who rallied through Eric Calubayan and Francis Aquino, both pumping in 8 points apiece. Ferdie Ligan hit 4 as RKH led by 21-6. Ligan topscored with 23 points, Aquino 15 and Calubayan 12 to lift RKH past MODA-MSD 84-54.

The match between King Abdulaziz Medical City (KAMC) and the Prince Sultan Cardiac Center (PSCC) saw KAMC's Dr. Zemmeckivo topscore with 33 points in his side's win, 125-106. KAMC's fluid offense and defense proved too much for PSCC. Art Lacop contributed 20 points, Harold Palatao (19), Reel Dublin (13) and Orlan Rivando (13). Topscoring for PSCC was Robert Tadeo with 42 points, Tong Esperame (22), Zoravosa (16) and G. Fernandez (13).
