JEDDAH, 30 April 2004 — Rene Santiago lifted the Saudi Pearl Insurance team to grab the spotlight in the 2nd week of the 31st All Filipino Tenpin Bowling League (AFTBL) organized by the Filipino Tenpin Bowlers at Jeddah. The games are being played at the Jeddah Lanes Bowling Alley under President Rene San Pedro.
Santiago compiled a three-game series scratch of 638, helping Saudi Pearl Insurance snatch 36 points. Beltran scored a series scratch of 574 in three matches while the veteran Decena had 533 series scratch in three outings. Martinez and Urquia contributed separate series of 522 and 516. Saudi Pearl Insurance now occupy second position.
SkyFreight Forwarders and current league leaders Saudi Diyar Consultants sealed an identical 32 points. Edu Toledo fired a three-game series scratch of 647. Cris Villavelez and Hero Garcia posted a separate series scratch of 547 and 527 in three sets. Boy Ramos and Louie Bautista contributed series of 503 and 490.
Saudi Diyar Consultants team was led by Roger Daquioag with 604 series. Larry Santos posted a series of 577 while Egay Samartino toppled a 531 series scratch. Mixi Lechuga and Epoy Santos respectively submitted series of 479 and 448 in three outings.
The Spoiler II quintet compiled 24 points through Roger Abantas (592). Nonie Yap and Rudy Punzalan scored separate three games series scratch of 532 and 523. Ed Labuac downed 504 points while Alex Flora carded 467 points.
The Tetra Pak team keglers produced 22 points with Bert Tuvera with a series scratch of 583. Rodell Ricafort fired 549 series while Rudy Valenzuela and Goying Salazar got a series of 514 and 504. Bonnie Garcia registered 434 series. Mel Yabut, Jerriel Cacao and Terry Naorbe powered the Gandour to post 19 points by carding a separate series of 584, 530 and 517. Darwin Tumandao and Patrick Escondo added a series of 488 and 390. The JIF quintet pocketed 18 points with Danny Bautista with 576, followed by Andy Erena (521), Zaldy Parinas (512), Chas Balisalisa (510) and Toto Lim (452).
The Al-Jazei Bakery team keglers got 17 points and at helm was Mao Orolfo with 561 points. Next was Val Magsino with 512 series. Igna Salgado, Abet Sarte, and Edward Escalana compiled a separate series scratch of 487, 475 and 474.
The Unilever squad logged 16 points through the games of Edwin Ronquillo (533) and Nap Patayan (531). Mar Cabrera, Jess Pineda, Edward Manozo and Mar Cabrera rolled separate series of 504, 499 and 494.
