DAMMAM, 30 April 2004 — The final test between Team A, B, C, and D was heading toward a dramatic finish after an absorbing second week in the ongoing Saudi Catering and Friends Team Tennis Tournament at the Saudi Catering tennis court.
Team A was downed by three points after a head-to-head crucial game which deprived them of the bonus points against Team B resulting in a game score of 29-32. Team B’s Archie Tim Cabahug and Omar Quilino cleared a tough hurdle before blasting away Hermie Serna and Demie Dela Cruz 10-4. Manny Donna and Danny Rabago trounced the pair of Ric Cellona and Willie Basilio 10-6. Dindo Latonio and Benny Supleo were outclassed by Dondon Ambalong and Max DeGuzman 10-6. Dindo Latonio yielded to Dondon Ambalong’s strong serve during their single match 10-6.
Team “C” seeking to dominate the game, posted a 34-23 total points upset win against Team “D”. Meong Nakpil and Emil De Dios defeated Rommel Aguiluz and Danny Senil 10-7. Kennedy Pacubas and Efren Roman bowed down to Alex Navarro and Danny Paring. Mar Lucanas and Armando Mina chopped up Alex Navarro and Sanny Orcalles 10-2. Sanny Orcalles was the fans delight when he fought tooth-and-nail against Mar Lucanas before succumbing 10-4.
The championship game and awarding ceremony is scheduled on Friday at the Saudi Catering Sports Complex in Dammam.
