JEDDAH, 7 May 2004 — Four matches were played in the Jeddah Cricket League Friday League. Tamer beat Deccan Blues by 7 wickets. Red Sea Paints defeated KAIA by 7 wickets. Saudi Perfume humbled Juffali Michelin. Attar Travel suffered a defeat against Al Sharief Shalimar.

Deccan Blues put up 163 runs and Tamer cruised to the target with 4 overs to spare. A. Quddous (50) and A. Aziz (33) put up a century stand for the 1st wicket in 11 overs. Rohan (23) and Fareed (18) contributed. Almas picked 4 scalps for 20 runs. Salem and Anees had a wicket apiece. In reply, Anwar (70) and Afroze (34) went on a run spree. Osman Butt hit 6 boundaries in his quickfire 33 off 19 balls.

Saleem Patel (23) and Anwar took their team to victory. Rohan (1 for 28), Younus (1 for 25) were successful bowlers.

KAIA scored 187 runs in its quantum of over. But Red Sea Paints surpassed this imposing total in the last over. Zameem (74-4 sixes and a four) and Lasantha (56-3 sixes and 3 fours) rallied KAIA from 19 for 2 with a 138-run stand.

Sattar (4 for 29) was pick of the bowlers. Arif claimed the wicket of Tahir Majeed, giving away 20 runs. Shabbir (80-4 fours and 2 sixes) and Liaqat (60-5 fours) scored 150 runs in 15 overs. As they brought Red Sea close to victory. Saleem remained unbeaten with 28 and took Red Sea Paints to victory in the last over.

Saudi Perfume was set a target of 180 runs for victory by Juffali Michellin and they achieved it with 5 wickets in hand and 3 overs to spare.

Juffali's tally was made possible by contributions from Imran (44-5 fours) and Zahid (56-5 fours). Imran and Zahid rescued their team from a precarious situation by adding 91 valuable runs. Naeem smashed four consecutive fours in his unbeaten 37 as Juffali reached 179 for 5 wickets.

Saadat claimed 2 victims for 36 runs. Wahaj and Faheem had one wicket each for 23 and 33 runs. Saudi Perfume lost Abdi for 11 but Wahaj anchored the innings along and took his team within sight of victory. He contributed 77 runs containing 9 boundaries and 3 huge sixes. Khalil added 24 runs with the help of 2 sixes and a four. Sajed (23-2 fours) and Shahid (24-2 fours) took Saudi Perfume to victory. Nadeem Chughtai (3 for 40), Hammad (1 for 18) and Zahid (1 for 26) bowled well.

Al Sharief Shalimar amassed 206 runs and Attar replied with 166 runs. Rahat topscored for his team with 77 runs studded with 8 boundaries. Abdullah hit 7 fours in his 52 runs. Rahat and Abdullah's partnership was worth 88 runs. Tariq (13) Mubashir (14) Tahir (11) and Naveed (11) reached double figures as Al Sharief Shalimar tallied 206 runs. Abu Hasan (4 for 33) and Raees (2 for 37) stood out.

Raees (30-3 fours) Aman (27-3 fours) provided a 54-run start.

Irfan cracked 3 towering sixes and 3 fours in his 53 as Shameem (16) Abu Hasan (14) made worthy contributions in Attar Travel's 166. Mubashir (3 for 12), Zain (2 for 29) and Younus and Shahid had a wicket apiece.
