RIYADH, 21 May 2004 — D’Friends International won 42-27 over the Power Brokers in the ongoing Association of Filipino Tennis Players Spring Cup 2004 taking place at the Al Yamama Hotel tennis courts.
In their opening salvo, Ace Espiritu and Ben Gonzales picked up their game at 8-2 against Albert Alberto and Fred Balais. Roy Repollo and Mario Torrefiel swept aside Felino Bautista and Alfred in the 2nd game.
In the B3/B4 category George Veranga and Cesar Arcenas chalked up another win over Jaime Balala and partner at 8-4. Raj Prasad and Jess Butalid succumbed 2-8 to Nilo Kong and Lito Hufana in the B1/B2 slot. Saleh Zahrani and Omar Swaidan came charging back against Robert Drequito and Nilo Eugenio at 8-3 in the A1/A2 category.
Mohammad Hossain, the lone Yemeni participant with Abrar Ali put on a serving/volley exhibition in an 8-5 victory over Felix Pacleb and Nilo Kong in the last game of A3/A4 category.
