JEDDAH, 21 May 2004 — LG United Naghi advanced as Juffali conceded the match and Saudi Perfumes overcame Deccan Blues in a nail-biting finish in the Division I of the league organized by Jeddah Cricket League (JCL).

At Attar ground, United Naghi elected to bat first and posted 227 for 3 in 20 overs. Talha Qulani's 48 (5x4, 2x6) and Wajid's 67 (10x4, 2x6) shared 92 runs gave a solid start, which was embellished by Saleem Nahdi, who scored an unbeaten 68 (7x4, 2x6). Maqbool 14 and Salaam Amoudi 16 n.o. also contributed. Zahid 2 for 27 and Nadeem 1 for 59 stood out.

In reply Juffali openers too scored freely as Imran 35 and Nayeem Shah 40 stepped up the rate. Then Zahid played some dashing strokes and looked to take Juffali to win. But he was caught by Saleem off the bowling of Arif and Juffali slipped to 125 for five in 12 overs. Juffali then conceded the tie. Waheed took 2 for 6 in one over, Arif 1 for 13, Saleem 1 for 19 and Wajid 1 for 24.

At Nestle Milo ground, Deccan Blues elected to bat against Saudi Perfumes and left-handed opener Quddus got out cheaply for 27 runs. At the other end Rohan too was unlucky to be run out for 7.

But Blues captain Abdul Aziz (Raziuddin) led by example with 52 solid runs, and Shoeb scored 31 runs in their 167 for 6 in 20 overs. The Saudi Perfumes & Cosmetics Inc. started well with inform batsman Wahaj hitting a strokeful 53 (7x4, 2x6), and Abdi lending support with 26 runs. Khalil Qazi blasted 19 of 10 balls and this was followed by Sadath's 37 of 18 balls as SPCI raced closer to victory. Shahid Ahmed made 11, skipper Sajid 11 and Amoudi an unbeaten 10 as SPCI made 170 for 5 in 18.2 overs. Rohan, Shoeb, Quddus, Younus and Badar took one wicket each.

Kanoo Travels Beat Afkar Promo-7: Consolation Cup:

Kanoo Travels made an imposing 228 for 9 in 20 overs at Otis ground for the third position in the league and to win the Consolation Cup. For Kanoo Travels Rashid 21, Majid 20, Waseem 34, Najam 42, Shoeb 17 n.o. and Mr. Extras 34 boosted the total to 229. Fahad 3 for 34, Nilamta 2 for 23, and Rumaiz, Ali and Hassan took one wicket each for Afkar.

In reply Afkar lost their openers cheaply and the prolific Rumaiz for 18. Ali (29), Nilamta (34) brought some stability as Azhar 27, Fahad 32 and Amer's unbeaten 14 brought them close. Afkar managed 189 for 8 as Shoukath 3 for 26, Shoeb 3 for 19 and Imran and Waseem with one wicket each stemmed Afkar.
