DAMMAM, 21 May 2004 — In the 4th Yamamah Challenger Trophy finals, played at Dena Marine Grounds Dammam, Senddex defeated Al Gosaibi. Twenty-four teams participated in the tournament with the top four qualifying for the knockout where Senddex and Al Gosaibi emerged as the finalist.
Al Gosaibi won the toss and opened the innings vigorously with the openers scoring 35 runs for the first wicket.
The second wicket partnership between Dilipa and Dempsy made 50 runs. Dempsy made 70 runs with fine support from middle order batsmen Dilipa 25 and Azam 24 and moved the inning score to 155 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs.
For Senddex Salaam took 3 wickets and Shabbir and Ibrahim 2 each.
In reply Senddex's Abdul Gafoor joined opener Shabbir and together they hammered 35 runs in just 2 overs in which Abdul Gafoor smashed 26 runs in just 5 balls before being out.
Later the middle order batsman Nazeer hit 46 n.o. and was well supported by captain Iqbal at other end, helping Senddex to a thrilling 9-wicket victory over Al Gosaibi in 19.4 overs.
Roshan captured 5 wickets, which included a hat trick and Dilipa 3 wickets. Man of the match trophy was awarded to Roshan.
Best Batsman of the Tournament trophy was awarded to Abdul Gafoor of Senddex; Best Bowler & Man of the Tournament was awarded to Shabbir of Senddex for taking 18 wickets and scoring 170 runs.
