RIYADH, 21 May 2004 — Pin Rockers bounced back from a string of losses to become the Team of the Week during the seventh session of the LS Monday Night Bowling League 4th Conference at the Al Khozama Bowling Center here.
A 15-3 points victory over Al Khozama on total pinfalls of 3,755 and 3,541 propelled the Pin Rockers to their second team award having won honors on the second week of the five-man tournament organized by a committee chaired by Mar Balmeo.
The victory also put the Pin Rockers, captained by Jun Sabareza, back on track and squelched talk that the squad's initial success was just a flash in the pan.
Also notching a big win was defending champion Missed Beat that hammered So Much into a 12-5 submission on total pinfalls of 3,673 and 3,588.
Garnet Cargo edged FOBR 13-12 (3,802-3,849) and ECR downed Carry Fast Cargo 8-6 (3,612-3,656) in the other matches in the five-man team league event sponsored by Hotel Al Khozama through sport center manager Saeed Al Zahrani, Garnet Cargo through Jojo Paciano and Ramon Cruz's Carry Fast which will give away weekly prize of free 20kgs sea cargo.
Abe Abulencia of FOBR claimed Bowler of the Week honors when he fired the high series of 873 on lines of 233, 212, 149 and 223.
Sabareza led by example, posting the top score at Pin Rockers with an 829. Providing Sabareza support were Arnel Gordovez with 776, Jell Tan with 753 and Marc Corrales with 724, while Frank Ranera tossed in 529 and Lino Alano a one-game 144. Missed Beat missed just a single game in disposing off first week honoree So Much as they got big game from Arnel Garlan with 775. Jun Balubayan contributed 761 to go with the 749 by Eden Bergonio, 714 by JR Raymundo and 674 by Nader Al-Kadi.
Garnet Cargo won because of big rounds from Willy de Mesa (827) and Nestor Ranido (803). Their five-man rotation also included contributions of 777 from Danny Binauro, 706 from Efren Castro and 689 from captain Jojo Paciano.
ECR's RC Consolacion and Fe Cayde at 860 and 803 respectively and Boy Alvaran of So Much at 840 completed the bowlers to register scores of 800 or better.
