RIYADH, 21 May 2004 — In third place before the start of the 10th week "A" Bowlers are now threatening to unseat durable leader D'Marvelous at the end of a high-scoring session in the Pizza Inn Thursday Night Bowling League Second Conference here.
"A" Bowlers led the assault on the Riyadh Bowling Club lanes, going perfect with maximum possible score of 29 points against Bowlmates and clinching back-to-back Team of the Week honors.
The previous week's honoree with 27 points, "A" Bowlers carded total pinfalls of 4,178 past Bowlmates who returned 17 points and total pinfalls of 3,903. Two other teams were just a point shy of perfect 29 and another only two points short on a freewheeling contest that saw four squads breach the 4,000-points plateau in the five-man team league event sponsored by United Food Company (Pizza Inn). Kirotzky, another team to enjoy good fortune of late, downed RBC Patriots 28-16 on total pinfalls of 4,126 and 3,916, Dugong Bughaw thrashed D'Young & Veterans 28-14 (3,991-3,864) and Carry Fast swamped Dink Fair "Sweater" 27-11 (4,010-3,625).
D'Marvelous tallied 25 points and total pinfalls of 4,047 in routing Keglers Manila (9 points, 3,562 pinfalls) in the other 10th week match.
Benny Racal of D'Young & Veterans emerged Bowler of the Week when he fired the high series of 935. For the third straight week, captain Jett Cabana led "A" Bowlers with 899 on games of 229, 223, 217 and 230.
Manny Lebrilla and Angel Pantoja matched a pair of 866s, Ernie Quiambao added 821 and Jomari de Luna 726 as second-ranked "A" Bowlers filled all the boxes for win and bonus points for scores of 850, 900, 950 and 1,000 with games of 1,069, 1,071, 1,034 and 1,004.
Kirotzky got a huge lift from the trio of Nestor Terci with 871, skipper Romy Zafe with 870 and Ben Valdez with 826.
Mar Viloria contributed with 795 to go with the 389 by Henry Pablo, 210 by Lito Marucot and 165 by Alex Paguila. Dugong Bughaw strutted their long bench with Freddie Santiago leading in the eight-man rotation with 865. Reny Dimapilis had 793 as the only other player to complete four games, while Benjie Macatuno made 627, Mudz Dais 621.
Carry Fast used Sammy San Juan with 861 followed by Boy Bartolome with 797, Robert Arcena with 619, Henry Acosta with 593, Ryan Labiaga with 379, Ramon Cruz with 363, Lino San Juan with 212 and Rey Moya with 619.
