RIYADH, 28 May 2004 — KIA's Pride had been in the freezer for so long that hardly anybody noticed when they claimed both the team and individual honors during the 16th week of the United Electronics Co. (EXTRA) Tuesday Night Bowling League 4th Conference here.
Virtually unheard of after becoming the first Team of the Week, KIA's Pride notched top figures of 26 points and total pinfalls of 3,363 in crushing Xtreme OPS which tallied 10 points and total pinfalls of 3,042.
RBC Patriots continued to blaze the way, blasting Starstrucks 24-7 (3,222-2,929), while, ABV RG, suffered an 18-6 defeat by Triple "R" on total pinfalls of 3,158-3,150.
Snap Shots 4 whipped Untouch-A-Bowl 22-15 (3,200-3,143) and Top Gun downed Blue Blood 20-10 (3,086-2,971) in the other matches in the four-man team league event sponsored by United Electronics Co.
The unmatched team of the week, Ara Bowlers, carded 19 points and total pinfalls of 2,959. Benito Santos doubled the joy of KIA's Pride when he clinched Bowler of the Week honors at a series of 940 on lines of 214, 229, 212, 225 and 60 handicap.
Freddie Santiago and Jess Frias were the others to complete four games at KIA's Pride with 871 and 767 respectively, while William Ybay added 625 and skipper Kia Morido 160.
For the Patriots it was the pair of Sammy San Juan and Ely Fanugao who had series of 892 and 845. Mar Viloria tossed in 703 that went with the 582 by Arnel Gordovez and 200 by Fhel Ramos.
Past Bowler of the Week Jun Sabalburo of Snap Shots 4 shot the high series of 970 on games of 250, 238, 259 and 223. Danny Francisco, Nap Torres and Nani Caballero were the others in the rotation that scored 752, 746 and 732 in that order.
The other players who broke the 800-series mark were ABV's Nestor Tercio at 866, Ding Balagtas of Triple "R" at 850, Top Gun's Pido Villarosa at 836, Blue Blood's Benjie Macatuno at 834, Raman Gurung of Untouch-A-Bowl at 858 and Ara's Cas Encila at 851 and Rod Tagaban at 803.
