JEDDAH, 27 June 2004 — The Fenton brothers — Daniel and Raymond, defending champions in the 14 years and under Intermediate Double, failed to stamp their names in the record book of the Panasonic Junior Tennis Circuit, which ended here on Friday night.

With a burning desire to preserve their title, the Fentons lost crucial points when needed most and failed to serve out the match with three game points at 7-4.

In a dramatic come-from-behind victory, the duo of Kristian Naparan and Raghav Ramabadran exceeded expectations, rallied and dug deep to force a tiebreak.

In an early jitter, the Fentons lost the first serve on double faults but countered with two break serves and held their serve to move up 3-1. Kristian came up strong and held his own serve and broke Daniel to level 3-3. The Fentons broke back to gain the upper hand 4-3. However, the highly rated pair roared high and took the next three games to move one game away from victory at 7-4.

Stunned but not done, Kristian and Raghav duplicated the feat winning the next three games on a double fault by Daniel on the crucial game to force a tiebreak. There was no denying the victory for Kristian and Raghav as the pair cruised to a 5-2 lead. After an exchange of serves, the Fenton’s lifted their game to level at 6-6, but then again Kristian held his own serve while Daniel missed the opportunity to level and lost his serve and the match.

Meanwhile, in the Beginners 10 years and under, Allan Ariesgado established control and eased to a convincing 8-1 win in a flawless game against Carl Jife Abat. The unseeded Abat could not get the shot he wanted and lost the first game on a double fault. Seeking his first championship, Ariesgado ripped the match wide open and bolted to a commanding 5-0 lead and coasted to victory to the delight of his parents.

In the Advance 18 years and under category, Ali Dipatuan thrashed Andre Olegario 8-2, Raymond Fenton crushed Raghav Ramabadran 8-3 and Ahmad Aumer edged past Kristian Naparan 8-3.

The tournament was exclusively sponsored by Panasonic, as part of the Panasonic Junior Tennis Circuit and organized by Jeddah Tennis Organization, headed by Chairman Serge Taga, Tournament Director Jovito Llevares, Tournament Referee Francis Idjao, Finance Officer Algier Reganon and members of the board composed of Ruel Consumo and Elmer Sto Domingo.
