JEDDAH, 28 August 2004 — Favorites Al-Ittihad Club began its campaign in the prestigious King Fahd Cup Soccer Tournament at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium with a thumping victory.
Ittihad displayed their irrepressible form yet again as they ran rings around Ohod Club of Madinah in a resounding 4-1 triumph.
Khaled Qahwaji opened the scoring for Ittihad notching the first two goals to set the stage for the Jeddah team’s victory.
Abdullah Al-Waked and Hamza Idris completed the tally. Ohod’s consolation goal came from Hamza Saleh.
In Dammam, Al-Ittifaq beat Al-Wehda 2-0 in a thrilling match at the Prince Muhammad ibn Fahd Stadium. Aji Tarouri and Yusri Basha scored the goals in the 42nd and 86th minutes of the game.
The third match of the league at the Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Stadium in Riyadh saw Al-Hilal also running up the tally, securing a 4-0 victory over Al-Taie.
Hussein Al-Ali scored a brace while Ahmed Al-Suwaileh and Fahd Suroor got the other two.
