JEDDAH, 16 December 2004 — Kanoo Power & Industrial Projects overwhelmed Kanoo Finance by 8 wickets while Kanoo Travel clobbered Kanoo Commercial by 100 runs in the 2nd week matches of the Kanoo Inter Division League sponsored by Kanoo Group of Companies for its employees here.
Vasiullah got his team Power & Industrial Projects to a dream start as he bowled Merchant of the first ball of the innings and went on to uproot the stumps of Aziz of the 3rd and then had Ehtesham leg before of the last ball of the first over as Finance tottered to 3 wickets for 2 runs.
At the other end Razi picked up 2 wickets to reduce them to 11 for 5. Finance never really recovered from the shock start and were bundled out for a paltry 43 runs in only 8 overs with Extras topping the score with 18 followed by the No. 11 batsmen Majeeduddin who scored 9 runs.
Vasiullah ended with figures of 3 for 7, Najaf 3 for 7, Shafi 2 for 8 and Razi 2 for 17. In reply P&IP lost 2 early wickets but Shafi with an unbeaten 23 runs ensured no further hiccups and P&IP won comfortably by 8 wickets at 46 for 2.
Vasiullah was declared man of the match.
Kanoo Travel got off to an explosive start as skipper Rashid went for the bowlers from the first ball and played some fine shot coupled with some quick running between the wickets.
The opening pair put on 67 with Rashid doing most of the scoring before Shawn was out for 7. Thereafter Rashid found an able partner in Irfan Pasha and the two put on 60 runs for the 2nd wicket before Rashid was out for an explosive 67 including 6 fours and 3 sixes.
Irfan continued from where his skipper had left and remained unbeaten with 51 including of 3 fours and 2 sixes.
Muteeb chipped in with an unbeaten 17. Irfan Siddique picked up 2 for 34 and Mansoor 1 for 30 as Travel ended with an imposing score of 187 for 3 in 15 overs, the highest in Kanoo Inter Division League.
In reply Kanoo Commercial were bundled out for 87 runs as Muteeb (2 for 9), Rashid (2 for 9) and Irfan (3 for 15) made batting difficult for Kanoo Commercial with only Ateeq (28) managing to put up some resistance. Travel won comfortably by a huge margin of 100 runs. Rashid was declared man of the match for his 67 runs and 2 wickets for 9 runs.
