JEDDAH, 3 January 2005 — The president of the Saudi Football Federation, Prince Sultan ibn Fahd, has approved the short list of players for the Saudi national team that will enter training camp at Prince Faisal ibn Fahad stadium in Riyadh.
The camp will start tomorrow and last five days. The Argentine coach Gabriel Calderon recommended the names of players to eventually compose the national team that will banner Saudi Arabia in the Asian qualifying matches in Asia for World Cup 2006 Germany.
The 22 players invited for training were: Hussein Al-Sadeq, Hamad Al-Muntashri, Saud Kariri, Manaf Abu Shgeer and Ibraheem Al-Suwaeed from Al-Ittihad Club; from Al-Ahli Club Hussein Abdul Ghani, Tayseer Al-Jasim and Waleed Abdrabu; from Al-Hilal Club Ahmad Al-Dokhi, Muhammad Al-Shalhoub, Muhammad Al-Anbar and Abdul Lateef Al-Ghannam; from Al-Nasr Club Muhammad Sharifi, Hadi Sharifi, Saad Al-Zahrani and Mansour Al-Thagafi; from Al-Shabab Club Abdu Utaif and Zaid Al-Muwallad; from Al-Qadiseya Club Yaser Al-Kahtani; from Al-Riyadh Club Hussein Sharahili and from Al-Ittifaq Club Fahad Masoud and Abdulrahman Al-Kahtani.
The list also included five injured players namely Naif Al-Ghadi, Reda Tukar, Osama Al-Muwallad, Mabrouk Zayed and Abdullah Al-Jamman. Saudi Arabia are bracketed in the same group with Kuwait, South Korea and Uzbekistan.
