JUBAIL, 9 February 2005 — The 7th Federation Cup Junior Doubles and Senior Singles Badminton tournament, organized by Badminton Federation — Saudi Arabia (BFSA), Eastern Province in collaboration with the Royal Commission for Jubail, was held at Al Huwaylat & Al Fanatheer sports complex in Jubail Friday.
The Junior Doubles tournament, originally scheduled at IIS-Dammam in December, was conducted in Jubail.
About 150 players participated in the championship to receive Abdul Appa Memorial Rolling Trophy, which was won by IIS-Dammam (IISD) for overall team championship. IIS-Jubail (IISJ) won the runner-up trophy donated by friends of Abdul Appa in Riyadh.
Eighty players of different caliber participated in the Senior Singles tournament in eight flights. This was the biggest Singles tournament conducted by the federation.
Junior boys and senior men played at the Royal Commission Al Huwaylat Club, and junior girls and women played at Al Fanatheer Ladies Club.
Tournament directors Anil Thomas and N. Lakshmaiah conducted the games at Huwaylat club and Ruby Joseph at Al Fanatheer club.
The Chief guests for the closing session were Royal Commission for Jubail’s Sports Affairs Manager Ali Ibrahim Al Gartoon, SFCCL General Manager P.R. Landge, POLYTECH General Manager Sheikh Mehmood, IISJ Managing Committee member Benny Jose, Benson Stanley and R.B.Hilton.
Federation President George PuthenMadhom welcomed the guests and congratulated the winners & Runners-up. BFSA Patron Landge attributed the event’s success to the well-coordinated work of the executive council members.
Ali Al Gartoon, Landge, Sheikh Mehmood, Benny Jose and Benson Stanley presented trophies to boys. Seema Landge presented trophies to girls at Fanatheer Club.

Yar and Achal Shrivastava, Men-Flight 2 — Niyas Omar and Zulfikar Choudhary, Men-Flight 4 — Robin Wilson and A.V. Mathew, Men-Flight 5 -Vinu and K.C. John, Men-Flight 6A — Shyamalan and Mohammed Yousef, Men-Flight 6B — Ganga Unni and K. Narayana Raju, Men-Saudi — Rashid Al-Ghamdi and Mohammed Al-Amri, and Ladies-Flight 5 — Smita Pandya and K. Chandana. There was no flight 3 for men. Ladies played in flight 5 only.
