JEDDAH, 21 September 2005 — Muscle and brawn take center stage as the Kai Fitness Center hosts the first national bodybuilding competition which starts today.

The event is organized by the Saudi Bodybuilding Federation and sanctioned by International Bodybuilding Federation.

A host of internationally known champions are to strut their stuff in the two-day tournament, among them, American Anthony Melvin, Iranian Ali Tabrisi, Al-Shahat Mabrook from Egypt and local bet Mulfi Al-Ghamdi.

Al-Ittihad club President Mansour Al-Balawi will attend the event along with Dr. Adel Faheem, deputy president of International Bodybuilding Federation and president of the Egyptian and African bodybuilding federations. The opening ceremony will start at 9 p.m.

A specially made big tent has been built within the premises of Kai Center at Al Hamra district to accommodate the big crowd estimated at between 1,500 to 2,000.

The competition is divided into three weight divisions namely under 75 kilos, under 85 kilos and over 85 kilos.

A cash prize of SR25,000 awaits the champion of the champions at the end of the event where the first, second and third placers will receive SR 10,000, SR6,000 and SR3,000. Toyota Company is the main sponsor of the event. The golden sponsors are Arab News and Bison energy drink.
