ABU DHABI, 21 October 2005 — The trade between the UAE and Europe is set for a period of rapid growth with the launch of the new Abu Dhabi to Brussels route by Etihad Airways — the national airline of the UAE. Currently, trade between Belgium and the UAE is worth approximately AED9 billion per annum, and with Brussels’ unique proximity to the neighboring countries of France, Germany and the Netherlands the economic benefits of the route will be felt across the whole continent. “Export relations between the UAE and Belgium are already very strong, but this connection between Abu Dhabi and Brussels will provide massive incentive for new business relations to be formed,” said Philippe Dartois, Belgium’s ambassador to the UAE.
