JEDDAH, 25 November 2005 — Saudi Arabia defeated Paraguay 1-0 in the international friendly match last night at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium here.
Abdulatif Al-Ghanam scored the lone goal of the match when he headed in a corner kick in the 52nd minute. An injury time goal by Alaa Al-Kuwaikbi was deemed offside and disallowed.
Both sides played a fast-paced game albeit the hosts dominated the match but then missed many excellent chances that could have given them more goals .
Saudi coach Gabriel Calderon experimented with a new formation using new players.
