JEDDAH, 4 December 2005 — Asian champions Al-Ittihad soccer club arrived in Kuala Lumpur to prepare for their FIFA Clubs World Championship in Japan starting from Dec. 11-18. The team will play a friendly against hosts Malaysia during the training camp. Twenty-seven players selected by coach Anghel Iordanescu, are attending the camp.
Meeting at Ahli Club
JEDDAH, 4 December 2005 — In a bid to prepare for future challenges and settle issues, a meeting has been called by the honorary members of the Al-Ahli Club on Monday. A plan for the next 3 years, especially for the football team, will be on the agenda. Besides selecting the next president of the club, the appointment of a new coach will be finalized in the meeting. Veteran Zomario of Brazil, former coach of Al-Shabab, is likely to be named to the post.
Al-Ahli Beat Al-Ittihad
JEDDAH, 4 December 2005 — Al-Ahli stunned Al-Ittihad 10-5 in their water polo derby match at the Youth Presidency Hall in Dammam on Friday. It was Ahli’s second straight victory over their archrivals in less than a week. Ahli controlled the game and denied Ittihad’s many attempts. Ahli remain unbeaten, and are on top of the league.
