JEDDAH, 7 December 2005 — Ahmad Al-Marzooki was appointed Al-Ahli club president succeeding Abdul Razzak Abu Dawood, who resigned in the aftermath of an embarrassing Saudi soccer league defeat against Al-Hilal 4-1 early last week. Ahli honorary members president, Prince Abdullah ibn Faisal ibn Turki, and supporting honorary member, Prince Khaled ibn Abdullah, attended the meeting in addition to 28 other members. Also in the meeting, members donated SR8 million to the club to support the football team. Al-Marzooki said that he was honored to accept the position.
Prince Khaled ibn Abdullah said that the meeting was positive. He said that the club witnessed a problem and it was solved inside the club. Prince Abdullah ibn Faisal said that a new coach would be appointed next week.
He said the two Moroccan professional players would stay in the team after they showed good performances and that if Rogerio did not shape up he will have to go and in his place a new player is to be recruited. He also said players who are not performing well would be fired from the team.
