RIYADH, 11 December 2005 — Newly appointed Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) Executive President Abdul Aziz Al-Saghir is asking for feedback from electricity users as the SEC develops strategies to meet ever-growing demands on the sector.
“We are trying to achieve balance between what is available to us and what the expansion in the Kingdom and its economic and transportation development is imposing on us,” said Al-Saghir in a press statement issued yesterday.
“We are facing increasing demand on electricity and are going to implement studies to find ways to improve our level of service.”
Al-Saghir said that the Kingdom still faces challenges in meeting demand, especially in the rural regions of the country.
“Providing electricity service to villages that do not have electricity service is the main objective of the company,” said Al-Saghir, adding that the SEC has budgeted SR350 million to get electricity to these regions currently not part of the national grid. “Despite these efforts, I see that the company still faces many challenges to fulfill future demands.”
“Because subscribers are the core of our attention, the company wants to include them in the studies intended to evaluate how better to serve them,” said Al-Saghir.
