MADINAH, 11 December 2005 — Al-Ittihad displayed fine ball control and incisive perimeter shooting as they ran up a 73-15 victory over Al-Wehda in the Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Basketball Tournament here last night.
Ali Maghrabi did the star turn as he scored 19 points while orchestrating Ittihad’s attack against the hapless Wehda squad in the final match of the day. Earlier Al-Ansar sustained their winning sequence with a 73-61 triumph against Al-Hilal. Ansar led Hilal 35-22 at the break with Hatem Muhammad notching 12 of his 18 points in the match in this half.
Al-Ahli too were big winners yesterday as they handed out a 92-13 pounding to Al- Khaleej. Ahli dominated the first half with Osman Obaid racking up 18 points before the interval, at which time Ahli led 43-8. Osman finished the day with 28 points.
In today’s matches, Al-Nasr faces Wehda, Al-Qadisiya will take on Ittihad and Al-Fateh will go against Ahli.
