AL-LEETH, 12 December 2005 — The highway police in Al-Leeth Province arrested a thief who escaped in a police car with a gun inside, Al-Madinah reported. The policeman informed his superiors after the thief fled. A high-speed police chase ensued. Police made a roadblock, but the thief took the squad car off road and tried to escape through the desert. After two kilometers of off-roading, the thief was detained after the car got stuck in the sand.
