JEDDAH, 12 December 2005 — In the Saudi Soccer League, Al-Shabab went to the top with 23 points after defeating Al-Nasr 3-1 at the Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Stadium in Riyadh.
Shabab had offered its players an incentive of SR5,000 as bonus if they won the Riyadh derby.
Nasr were in poor form able to match Shabab’s performance. Nasr remain seventh place with 10 points. Hilal, who were on top of the league at the beginning of second round, dropped to the second place with 22 points.
Both the teams have played nine matches.
In Dammam, Al-Qadisiya strengthened their position, climbing to 4th place with 14 points, by defeating Al-Ansar of Madinah 2-0 at the Prince Muhammad ibn Fahd Stadium. Ansar dropped to the bottom of the standings with 4 points and face demotion to the first division.
In Hail, Al-Taie moved to sixth position with 11 points after defeating Al-Ittifaq 2-1. Ittifaq, with nine points are on ninth position. Last Friday, Ahli tied 2-2 with Abha in Abha and are on third position with 14 points. Al-Hazem defeated Al-Wehda of Makkah in Makkah 1-0 and moved to eighth position with 10 points.
