CAIRO, 15 December 2005 — Prominent Egyptian singer Hani Shaker may be a wealthy man, but not as wealthy as rumors would have it, he claims.
Responding to reports that the producer of over 20 albums over a 23-year career has amassed a fortune of $33 million, Hani noted that his wealth doesn’t amount to even a tenth of that amount. In order to generate that kind of wealth, he said, one must invest in various commercial projects, not just a singing career.
Recently Hani and the late Laila Murad were both honored at the 14th Arabic Music Festival held Nov. 18 at the Cairo Opera House.
