Robincorp, the only local full-scale Smart Card Integration Solution & Consultancy based company in Kuwait hosted “The One Card Vision” conference at the Kuwait Sheraton Hotel yesterday. The objective of the conference was to introduce and demonstrate the scalability scope of smart cards to key players in the region. “Our aim with this conference was to demystify the smart card technology to the general public,” explained Jawad Abul Hasan, director and chief operating officer, Robincorp. “We wanted to show how smart cards work, and how this technology has positively reflected different business sectors in our world today, giving a value-added benefit to people’s daily lives.” Today the smart card technology has been embraced by businesses in a slow yet positive growth rate in the GCC states. More organizations are now opting for smart card solution models to ensure better performance and security. “But a lot of businesses are apprehensive about changing their system models because they don’t really understand the technology well or how it can clearly benefit their overall business,” explained Abul Hasan. Guest speakers at the conference included Jessica Westerouen van Meeteren, managing director of Sagem Orga MENA, who gave a brief overview of Sagem Orga and spoke about the opportunities and challenges of the smart card industry in the region. Miro Antelj, business development manager of Sagem Orga MENA, gave a short introduction to smart cards in the health care industry.
