RIYADH, 29 December 2005 — The Saudi Football Federation have suspended one player each from Al-Taie and Al-Ahli for three matches. The players Al-Hazzazi of Ahli and Al-Junaied of Taie were involved in fisticuffs during their teams’ match last week. The SFF also slapped one-match suspension on Taie’s coach for attacking the referee after the match.
National Team to Play in LG Tournament
RIYADH — The national team will play against Finland, South Korea and Greece in the 4-Nation soccer tournament from Jan. 21-25 in the Kingdom. LG Electronics is organizing the tournament. Saudi Arabia will play its first match against Finland. The national team is participating in the tournament in preparation for the World Cup 2006 in Germany. Saudi Arabia will also play a friendly against Sweden on Jan. 18 at home.
Hilal Spikers Beat Al-Khuwaildeya
RIYADH — Al-Hilal scored an easy 3-0 victory over Al-Khuwaildeya of Qatif in a volleyball tournament in Qatif. At the city’s Prince Naif Hall, Hilal spikers dominated the court and easily won against their lowly rivals. Hilal will play against Al-Nahda on Friday in Riyadh.
Khaleej-Jabaleen Tie Postopned
DAMMAM — The Saudi Football Federation postponed a first division soccer match between Al-Khaleej and Al-Jabaleen. Jabaleen requested SFF for the postponement due to lack of airline reservations. No alternative date was announced.
