JEDDAH, 2 January 2006 — The Alpha Phi Omega Alumni Association of the Western Region has inducted into office its officers for 2006.
Consul General Mohammad Noordin Pendosina Lomondot, himself an APO alumni, administered the oath to the officers recently during the fraternity’s 80th year anniversary.
The chapter held its oath-taking ceremony at the La Parilla Restaurant in Jeddah.
Sworn into office were: Saibatol “Bobby” R. Dalos, president; Aida Salvacion, executive vice president; Mohammad “Peddie” Holanda, vice president for planning; Rey Soriano, VP for finance management; Edwin Monge, VP for membership; Macario Antenor, VP for education; Raffy Campiao, VP for special projects.
Joy Bacabis and Roanne Punzalan, VPs for medical and dental services; Yusoph Taha and Amrodin Gandamra, VPs for Islamic affairs; Clary Macaraya and Kennedy Maruhom, VPs for sports development; Bebot Magpantay, executive secretary; Angelo Delos Reyes, treasurer; Aurelio C. Soriano, auditor.
The Council of Advisers include Consul Lomondot and former presidents Mike Ali, Omar Salvacion, Rey Vicencio, Perdaus Tampi and Datu Omar Mohamad Ali.
Mariano Sagun, Edmundo Gagasa, Jamal Abangad, and Nasser Macasangul were chosen as coordinators. Area directors were also chosen. They were: Tony Ramilo for Jeddah, Mansour Sani for Makkah, Alice Siapno for Taif, Teddy Sta. Rosa for Madinah, and Calex Barambangan for Yanbu.
Dalos said he will continue the projects proposed or started by his predecessor, Omar Salvacion. These include providing food for Filipinos who come to perform Haj in Makkah, assisting with the yearly Ramadan Qur’an Reading Competition at the Consulate, donation of food to distressed Filipino workers sheltered at the consulate, among other projects.
Dalos said his group is just continuing the goals of their fraternity, which was organized in Manila in 1926 to help shape member students into becoming useful citizens.
“APO members are not only doing these activities in the Kingdom but throughout the world,” he said, noting that the fraternity is guided by three principles: leadership, friendship and service.
