RIYADH, 5 January 2006 — Bank AlJazira said its reserves were inadequate to keep a promise to double its capital and asked the bourse to suspend trading in its shares yesterday to let investors digest the news. The bank announced a one-for-two bonus share issue and a dividend of SR3. The issue would increase the bank’s capital by 50 percent to SR1.125 billion, the stock market website said late on Tuesday. That fell short of the 100 percent hike the bank had proposed earlier.
