CAIRO, 7 January 2006 — Egyptian actress Suad Nasser is in coma for the ninth consecutive day as a result of a doctor’s mistake while administering anesthesia on her, Al-Madinah reported yesterday.
Suad’s heart and brain stopped working after the mishap and she is now struggling for her life, the paper said, adding that she had gone to the hospital for liposuction.
The head of the Egyptian Artists Association sent a cable to Prime Minister Ahemd Nazif requesting him to make arrangements for the treatment of Suad abroad or in an advanced private hospital inside the country.
The Egyptian health minister had earlier visited Suad at the hospital and called for arrangements to be made to provide extra care for the actress.
Suad’s family has already lodged a complaint against the hospital at a police station in Nasser City.
