RIYADH, 7 January 2006 — Nominations for the 2006 Philippine Presidential Awards for overseas individual or organization is now open, the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) in Manila has announced.
New CFO chief Dante Ang, in a letter to Ambassador Bahnarim A. Guinomla, explained that the “Presidential Awards is a biennial search to recognize exceptional individuals and organizations for their outstanding contribution to Philippine progress.”
He said the awards “are also conferred on overseas Filipinos who have shown excellence and distinction in their work or profession.”
According to the CFO, 235 overseas-based Filipinos and organizations have been conferred the awards since the awards were instituted in 1991.
Ang's letter said copies of the primer containing the rules and guidelines would be made available at Philippine missions abroad.
Nomination forms have to be accompanied by endorsement forms, which are also available at the embassy in Riyadh or the consulate in Jeddah.
The completed forms should be forwarded on or before May 15 to the CFO at Citigold Center, 1345 Pres. Quirino Ave. corner South Superhighway, Manila.
