General Motors (GM) has continued its record sales growth in Saudi Arabia in 2005, with total annual sales of 71,422, an increase of 56 percent over 2004. Sales in the Middle East region in 2005 were 113,574 units, up 28 percent over last year and almost double the 2003 sales. December was GM’s 26th consecutive record month of sales in the region. Speaking at a media briefing held during the North American International Motor Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, GM’s Middle East MD Terry Johnsson: “Our continued success is driven by the growing popularity of all our brands, but especially Chevrolet, in all markets - in particular Saudi Arabia, which last year accounted for over 60 percent of our total Middle East sales.” GM is enjoying growth across almost all Middle East markets. GM’s sales growth in Saudi Arabia is being fueled by all its major brands. In 2005, Chevrolet sales in the Kingdom were up 52 percent to 45,414 units, Cadillac and HUMMER sales grew by 15 percent to 1,317 units, while GMC recorded a 70 percent increase over 2004 to 24,627 units.
