MADINAH, 19 January 2006 — A petty thief aimed high by breaking into a patrolman’s car and stealing a cell phone, the Okaz daily reported. Not only was this a cop, but a fairly high-ranking one at that. Col. Siraj Kamal, the manager of a local traffic department called the cell phone and attempted to negotiate its return. Perhaps aware of how complicated it might be to negotiate with a cop the handover of the stolen item with the possibility of being arrested, the thief respectfully declined.
