JEDDAH, 27 January 2006 — The city’s trade exhibitions for the new calendar year open with MEETES — Middle East education and training show and symposium. The United States, Britain, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, France, Australia, Malaysia, India, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan are among the major participants who will showcase their institutions involved in education and training programs at the exhibition scheduled from March 5-9.
“A symposium will also be held on the sidelines of the exhibition in cooperation with the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce & Industry,” Zahoor Siddique, exhibitions director of Al-Harithy Company for Exhibitions Ltd., said yesterday. The annual International Trade Fair will follow from March 19-23. This will be the Kingdom’s 24th multisectoral trade and franchising expo for light industries and machinery, consumer goods, giftware, clothing, textiles, leather goods, fashion accessories, cosmetics and perfumes, which will run in conjunction with Lifestyle — the international event for furniture, furnishings, fabrics, floor and wall coverings lighting, kitchens and bathrooms, and interiors and exteriors.
Turkey, China, Malaysia, Italy, Poland, Spain, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Iran, and the UAE will have their pavilions and stands along with a large contingent of participants from the Kingdom. “These two complementary shows will satisfy the diversity and rapidly changing requirements of Saudi businessmen and traders in the home, business and leisure sectors,” Siddique said.
The annual Saudi building industries exhibition and symposium is set from April 1-5. This will be the 15th comprehensive event for the industry incorporating real estate, maintenance, interiors, safety and security, building materials & construction equipment, electrical, climate control, water technology, waste management, and environmental conservation and solutions. A symposium will be held with the cooperation of Saudi Council of Engineers.
National pavilions and groups of companies from the UK, France, Turkey, Italy, Germany, India, China, Taiwan and the UAE will take part alongside a large contingent of Saudi exhibitors. “With the ongoing construction boom across the Kingdom, this show will be a big draw like in the previous years.”
The annual food show from May 28-June 1 combines Food & Hotel Arabia — the 11th international event for food, beverages and catering, hotel equipment, supplies and services. This incorporates ‘Art de Table’ featuring a top chefs’ competition. The other section is Propac Arabia — 11th international event for production and processing, printing and packaging, and plastics and chemicals.
A solo China Commodity Fair from June 10-15 will be followed by the annual International Motor Show from Nov. 5-10. This will be the 28th edition of the motor show featuring latest vehicles, motorcycles, auto parts, accessories and garage equipment. COMMTEL — the 21st international event for computing, the Internet, office equipment and accessories, business communications and mobile phones, is set from Dec. 11-15.
