RIYADH, 31 January 2006 — Horst Freitag, the director general for Near and Middle Eastern Affairs, Federal Foreign Office of Germany, starts a one-day visit in Saudi Arabia today. The visit is aimed to bolster Germany’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its friendly relationships with Saudi Arabia and the Arab world.
Freitag, a political veteran in German diplomacy with extensive experience in North Africa, the Sudan, Palestine and Iraq, is expected to discuss with Saudi officials ways to boost bilateral relations and exchange views on the latest developments in the Middle East.
Freitag will also meet with Saudi senior executives representing various sectors in business, trade and investment.
