Shabab Let Rogerio Go

RIYADH, 1 February 2006 — Al-Shabab has parted company with Rogerio after doctors said the knee injury to former Ahli striker would take at least three months to heal. After being forced to terminate the contract of Rogerio, Shabab are now in the hunt for a replacement to play at least for the remainder of the season.

Nur Suspended

JEDDAH, 1 February 2006 — The Saudi Football Federation suspended Ittihad midfielder Muhammad Nur for two games and fined him SR2,000 because of his behavior during the Shabab match last week. Nur will miss Ittihad’s matches against Hazem and Taie in rounds 16 and 17.

Egypt’s Ahli Champs

DAMASCUS, 1 February 2006 – Ahli of Egypt won the 24th Arab Volleyball Championship for Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Cup here. Ahli beat Ahli of Saudi Arabia in the final 3-1. Despite the defeat, Ahli’s coach was satisfied with his team’s performance and that the lack of experience was the reason for the setback.
