MTC Group has launched an informative, interactive and innovative website that will cater to MTC’s customers, shareholders, investors, businesses and media, as well as governmental and nongovernmental bodies. The website, www.mtctelecom.com, contains extensive information such as the company’s strategic outlook, mission and values, management team, customer statistics, media and investor relations issues, corporate social responsibility and much more.

There is also a dedicated careers section that allows jobseekers to view vacancies and apply online. MTC has a Human Resources Policy to hire as many locals as possible. In Iraq the company has 100 percent Iraqi employees, with the same in Jordan and in Lebanon. In Bahrain, 85 percent of MTC’s employees are Bahrainis. One of the most innovative sections of the website is the Investor Relations section. A first of its kind in the regional telecom industry, the Investor Relation pages provide a live feed of MTC’s share price, along with charts showing its performance over the past three years.

MTC currently operates in 19 countries from the Arabian Gulf to sub-Saharan Africa with over 13 million customers speaking languages that include Arabic, French and English. The English version of the site has gone live, with the Arabic version to follow in March 2006 and a French version will become available by the end of this year.

Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) began life in 1983 in Kuwait as the region’s first mobile operator and now has become a major player in Africa. The company operates in Kuwait and Bahrain as MTC-Vodafone, in Jordan as Fastlink, in Iraq as MTC Atheer, in Lebanon as MTC Touch, and in 14 sub-Saharan countries in Africa as Celtel. Last week, through Celtel, MTC acquired the African mobile operator Mobitel in Sudan. MTC Group’s next move will be to bid for the third GSM license in Egypt.
